Featured Item #2:
Toy Wand, Item #X1
This item is a children's toy.
The handle is made from
Philippine Mahogany, also known as
Lauan. The shaft is made from
Maple. The Lauan has a high
contrast in the colours of the grain. The grain reminds me of hay
in colour. The shaft has a very light tan colour with the intricate
grain circles and swirls found in maple hardwood.
All the edges have smooth curves to reduce the chance of injury
during play. The finish is polyurethane to give it a protective coating
that will stand up well to abuse. This item was designed to be used
and enjoyed. I made this item was made in May 2005.
The wand is 11.1" long with the handle making up 4.4 " of that. The
handle is 0.7" diameter, the shaft is 0.25" diameter.
This item is new, never used, and is
for sale. Details can be found on t
he
turnings for sale page.
